My name is Wesley, and I have a passion for Finnish sauna. It all started when I was seeking out a Sauna for my family cottage. I always wanted a sauna and knew it would be a life upgrade. But finding one was a difficult task.

The more I researched the more I realized that North American saunas were nothing like they are in Finland. I wanted a real Finnish sauna, because I believe they mastered the sauna, and to get the real health benefits from studies done in Finland, I had to create a real Finnish sauna.

Nothing seemed to exist like this on the market, and I didn't have the money to hire a builder, so I went and built my own custom kit. Using the principles I learned from an online community of  Finnish sauna builders, Trumpkin's notes on sauna building, as well as the book "Secrets to Finnish Sauna".

The resulting sauna exceeded all expectations, creating an enjoyable sweat and heat, where you never feel like you need to count a timer. We found ourselves enveloped in an environment that encouraged deep relaxation and genuine rejuvenation.

This became the prototype for Knotty Sauna, I knew this kit could be even better, and could be a time efficient way for people to get their own sauna. I felt the need to help others like me to get themselves a little sauna retreat without the timely process of hiring a builder, and navigating all the misinformation and sales people from North American companies. These companies seem to all push barrel saunas, and similar kits that look good on instagram but lack Finnish sauna design fundamentals.
