One of the main drawbacks of any sauna kit with solid wood walls is insulation, as thinner wood provides little R-value. However, the benefit is that you avoid complicated wall structures/vapor barriers that can lead to mold. You get to experience a log structure that sweats with you and can breathe!
We’ve designed this kit so that the ceiling can be fully insulated, which is crucial since most heat loss occurs through the ceiling. Proper insulation here makes a significant difference in performance.
Climate & Performance
- Cold Climates: If you experience harsh winters, you’ll notice a difference in ambient room temperature during colder months. However, with an insulated ceiling, this sauna has been tested to perform well even in -20°C Canadian winters. Generating plenty of steam can help offset heat loss.
- Mild & Warm Climates: If you live in a warmer region, the lack of wall insulation won’t be an issue—it’s mainly a matter of efficiency. Your heater may run more often to maintain temperature, but this also means consistently hot rocks and an endless supply of steam for a great sauna experience.
- Do It Yourself (DIY):
We have made this kit as easy to construct as you can get, even for an amateur builder. Although we would recommend consulting a professional for the deck/foundation. Feel the reward of building your own Sauna.
- Assembly Package (We Do It):
Just want this thing done? We get that. Contact us to see if you fall within our assembly region, and to book a site visit.
- Assembly Time:
The log structure itself can be built by 2 people in a weekend (or two 8 hour days). Foundation, roofing, ceiling, and heater install will take extra time. We recommend putting aside 4-5 days or a few weekends. Don't be fooled by other sauna companies claiming this is like an Ikea project!
