Our sauna product is currently in development, and will be a complete kit with all the materials and instructions necessary for a great sauna. We are offering JUST THE SHELL for now, in case any builders want to get started right away, and don't want to agonize over framing, arguing with a contractor over ceiling height etc. 

This is a building shell (walls, roof, and floor), with dimensions to make an effective sauna for at least 4 people. Meant for those who are handy, but don't want to spend the time doing a frame build themselves. The customer must be willing to go through the process of building their own benches, installing a heater, roofing, insulation, ventilation etc.

This shell will provide a blank slate for you to build your own sauna, knowing that you have the proper size and shape for a great sauna experience. It was inspired by Trumpkin's notes on sauna design. The structure has solid wood walls (38mm double tongue and groove), and interlocking corners creating a sealed room with no worries of toxic materials, just natural spruce wood. It also comes with tongue and groove floor boards, which could be modified to create a trough drain. Most importantly, the Sauna is approx. 8x8x9 feet tall for an optimal experience. Allowing bathers to sit higher up in the room, be evenly heated, have proper air quality and comfortable convective heat. While the walls offer little insulation, there is room for the ceiling joists to be insulated and cladded.

This is actual Finnish design, derived from Trumpkins notes and "The Secrets of Finnish Sauna Design". We are not just slapping the word "Finnish" on another barrel or low ceiling sauna. While we understand this design has some drawbacks (mainly insulation, and change room/airlock), we believe this is a great alternative to a lengthy and costly custom build. No more agonizing over building, this structure can be built in 1-2 days, much faster than a traditional framed structure. Get your own sauna ritual started, and add sauna to your lifestyle.

We can offer full sauna installation services in Ontario. Outside of Ontario, this kit can be shipped across the US and Canada. But is a DIY kit and will require you to build many crucial elements yourself.

If you have been looking for sauna kit that follows Finnish and Trumpkin design, look no further. This is the perfect base you need to create an amazing sauna and upgrade your health.

This is a Finnish log cabin style shell, with stackable double tongue and groove walls (38mm thick). It is the perfect size for 2-4 people recommended by Trumpkin's sauna notes. Use a wood stove, or electric, build your bench layouts as you wish! Perfect for the DIYer who wants a solid shell as a starting point. This stackable log wall design comes with thorough instructions, and can be built in a weekend. Interior measuring approx. 8 foot by 8 foot square with a 9 foot high ceiling on the bench wall.

You will want to install ventilation based on your stove type. As well as insulate and clad the ceiling with wood of your choice.

This is a traditional Sauna cabin built to Finnish design specs. We were frustrated with the low ceilings, and poorly made saunas currently on the market. So we set out to build a functional kit sauna, one that the Finns would actually call a sauna. A minimalist, timeless design that creates a comfortable, relaxing sweat, not the feeling of suffocation. With so many pseudo saunas on the market today using "Finnish design" as a marketing buzzword, we wanted to bring REAL Finnish design to the people. The Finns have been perfecting sauna for thousands of years and we believe in using the principles they've discovered. That is why The Essential Sauna Cabin was born. While we are working on a more "complete" product, we wanted to offer this shell for all the DIYers out there!

We have made this kit as easy to construct as you can get, even for an amateur builder. Although we would recommend consulting a professional for the deck/foundation. Feel the reward of building your own Sauna.

  • Assembly Time:

Plan for 2 people to be able to build in a weekend (or two 8 hour days). But it is possible to build this shell in as little as one day.

Materials

All the materials to build your new sauna structure are included. The entire kit is packed nicely on a pallet so it can be shipped anywhere.

Simple to Build Log Walls

All the pieces are precision milled and fit together nicely, with minimal tools and hardware. The log walls are double tongue and groove, with corner joinery that locks into place.

Thorough Instructions

All pieces are labeled with an ID number, and comes with a thorough set of instructions. You can choose to "do it yourself", or simply hire a local builder or carpenter. The clear instructions will make it easy for them to build.

Build your own benches

The Sauna shell provides a blank canvas for whatever bench layout you choose. You will need at least 3 levels to get to the good part of the sauna.

Choose your stove

You can choose your own stove, wood or electric. Depending on your budget and preferences.
